Metropolitan Community College Fort Omaha Campus – Construction Education Center
The Construction Education Center (CEC) at Metropolitan Community College’s Fort Omaha campus provides the tools and space to teach innovative education programs targeted to construction industry skills and careers. Since 2017, CEC houses essential existing programs, while integrating advancing methodologies and markets. From the moment students walk through the door, they not only go to college, but to a work site. “Going to work” at the CEC means students practice in labs or high-tech simulators, build components to a modular home within a large collaborative workspace, read construction documents on an iPad or work on project schedules in a huddle room. In addition to trade-specific labs, tools and shared work space, there are rooms for seminars and broadcasts from real-world, real-time construction projects. It is the CEC’s goal to train 1,300 students on an annual basis in architectural drafting and design, civil engineering, construction technology, electrical technology and apprenticeship, HVAC, industrial and commercial trades, plumbing, sustainability and welding.
